Rough figures are fine. Every working figure is shown, and you can change it.

Our working figures, which you can change

QUESTIONS

Asked often

The questions people search for before they run the check.

How much does an in-house IT person cost in India?

More than the salary. On top of CTC come training, insurance, a laptop and desk, the tools they need, and the cost of replacing them when they leave. For one IT admin on ₹45,000 a month looking after 50 users, the calculator's defaults come to about ₹7.3 lakh a year.

Is it cheaper to outsource IT support?

Often, for organisations too small to keep two or more IT people busy, because one person cannot cover leave, holidays and the hours outside their shift. With a team of two or three, in-house can be the better answer, and the calculator says so when it is.

How is gratuity calculated?

Under the Payment of Gratuity Act, 15 days' wages for each year of service, on a 26-day month: 15/26 of a month's basic pay a year, which is about 4.81% of annual basic.

What employer PF contribution should I budget for?

12% of PF wages as the employer's contribution, plus about 1% for EDLI and administration. Mandatory PF wages are capped at ₹15,000 a month, and many employers contribute on that ceiling.

Do managed IT fees attract GST?

Yes, 18%. A GST-registered business can usually claim it back as input tax credit, which salaries do not offer, so compare quotes before GST.

Is my data stored when I use the calculator?

No. Everything is worked out in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us. If you ask for the report, we keep your details and a one-line summary of the result.

Rather talk it through?

Some organisations are better off with their own IT person, and we will say so. The rest usually need cover for the hours one person cannot give.
